Jamaat-e-Islami Chief Syed Munawar Hassan has said that the government appeared to be heading for a show down with the judiciary but it would be harmful for the country, the nation and democracy. Addressing the Friday congregation at Mansoora mosque, he said the government had no option except to implement the Supreme Court judgement on the NRO because otherwise the entire nation would be on the roads.

The media had fully exposed the corruption by the government, he added. He said that the differences between the Pakistan People's Party (PPP) and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) were a farce. Both of these were trying to save their seats and to mint money, as neither were interested in solving the public problems.

Munawar Hassan said that the masses would have to rise against this present socio-political system based on exploitation that was widening the differences between the have and have-nots, making the life of the poor miserable. Oppressive forces were knocking at every door and the oppressed have to rise against the tyranny, he added.

The US, he said, was projecting the Muslims especially the Pakistanis as terrorists, extremists and fundamentalists and denying them even the right to live whereas the Zionists, Hindus or the Christians who were involved in the genocide of the Muslims in different areas were not labelled as terrorists or extremists.

Referring to London Conference on Afghanistan, the JI Chief said that the US and the Western powers owed an explanation to the World community for pulling down the Taliban government and the tons of ammunition bombarded in Afghanistan over the years. He, however, said that Taliban had denied any such talks and announced that there won't be any talks unless the US and Nato forces pulled out of Afghanistan. The defeated Nato forces were only spreading disinformation, he added.
